2010 Spring Cleanup
2010 Spring Cleanup
Many thanks to those who participated in the Sugarloaf Mountain Clean-Up
Saturday morning! Jo Price, Kelly Bobb, and I represented the SHC board members. Neil Beisenstein, Paula and Jeff Puckett were the SHC members who volunteered, and ten other adults who pitched in. The adults were helping young people earn their scout merit badges (from Tumbling Shoals) or were making the mountain their destination for a fun Saturday outing (from Searcy). In all, about thirty people participated.
The September event produced far more trash collected than this one, because we think it was the first coordinated effort to remove any litter. We estimate about one hundred pounds of trash this time, and Kelly retrieved a sports bike someone had thrown from the top!
Like last September, there was a good sense of accomplishment from our efforts, not to mention the fellowship among the whole group. The Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission's "Great American Clean-Up" provided T-shirts, gloves, trash bags, and bottled water for the event.
Thank you Keep Arkansas Beautiful, SHC board members, SHC members, and all our priceless volunteers!
